Strength First is owned and operated by NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist BJ Fox. BJ is a proud graduate of Atlantic City High School as well as a graduate of Rutgers University. BJ is a Captain with the Atlantic City Fire Department where he focuses on keeping his team in shape and well trained for any emergency. His experiences on the Fire Department led him to understand the importance of strength training for adults to assist with the activities of daily living. His experiences coaching youth sports led to him CSCS certification as a way to ensure the safety of young athletes as they participate in a wide range of sports.
BJ has experience in both endurance and explosive sports as a rower and ice hockey player. He competes annually in the Around the Island Row, a 20 mile lifeguard race around Wildwood Island, as well as plays on the Atlantic City Police and Fire Department's Guns 'N Hoses ice hockey team.
BJ earned his CSCS certification in 2015 after getting involved in coaching youth sports. He is also certified in USA Weightlifting-I as well as CPR and AED certified. As a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, BJ attends regular, ongoing professional development where he has access to a network of strength and conditioning coaches from the NCAA as well as MLB, the NFL, and the NHL. In addition to attending professional development, he keeps current on exercise science through the many publications of the most recent research based practices offered by the NSCA's Strength and Conditioning Journal.
BJ resides in Margate, NJ with his wife where they are raising 3 strong daughters. Family life revolves around youth sports, including basketball, cross country, dance, field hockey, lacrosse, rowing, and swimming. It is our company's mission to provide the same strength to you and your family as we have developed in our family through this adventure.
